Kidepo Valley National Park, located in Uganda’s remote northeastern region, is an untouched wilderness teeming with diverse wildlife, scenic landscapes and authentic cultural encounters. Covering 1,442 square kilometers the park offers sweeping savannah plains, rugged mountain ranges and seasonal rivers that attract a variety of wildlife. DAY 1: TRANSFER TO KIDEPO VALLEY SAFARI
Early in the morning at around 6:00 am, you will be picked up by your driver for a 4 days Kidepo safari. Be prepared for a long day in the car, but with a lot to see as you advance to the most magnificent and Africa’s finest wilderness, you will drive through the remote villages of Northern Uganda, to the spectacular Karamojong homesteads, and finally into the valleys of Kidepo the views of the park are breath taking.
On arrival in the park, you will have to check in your lodge. After you check in, relax, and have dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2: FULL DAY GAME DRIVES IN KIDEPO VALLEY NATIONAL PARK
Kidepo national park is Uganda’s best tourist destination for game viewing. Unlike other Uganda national parks, This is the true African Wilderness and has a variety of wild animals in largest populations. The park has mainly two places for game drives that is; Narus Valley and Kidepo valley. Narus valley is vast grassland rolling plain amongst distant views mountains and hills. Narus valley is rewarded with permanent water supply from Narus River that which attracts large concentrations of animals in the valley throughout the year. Commonly found animals in Narus whilst on a game drive include the Savannah elephants, buffaloes, giraffes, Uganda Kobs, waterbucks, lions and hippos in some of the water-logged areas to mention but a few. Kidepo valley unlike Narus valley has less concentration of animals given its dry nature. However, driving through the Kidepo valley is thrilling while exploring the dry Kidepo with white sand bed.
After lunch, your guide will take you on an evening game drive into the open Savannah grasslands of the Kidepo Valley National Park where you will be able to spot out African Lions that may be sitting along the Narus valley or on the rocks at the entrance of Apoka park headquarters. Other wildlife that can be spotted in the area includes African Elephants, Leopards, Antelopes, Giraffes, African Buffaloes and so much more. Later, you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. There is also an option for the campers as the park has two camping sites, with good facilities, water and clean latrines, plus you can be provided with ranger guide to protect you and make you stay in the park safe.
The landscape throughout the park is studded with small hills, rocky outcrops and inselbergs from which one can obtain stunning views in all directions enjoy panoramic views of the Narus River Valley and photographic opportunities of wildlife from all corners. Enjoy an evening game drive along the Narus River Valley for game Viewing and photography of Elephants, herds of Buffaloes, Jackals, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Klipspringer and possibly Lions.
DAY 3: MORNING GAME DRIVE & AFTERNOON KARAMAJONG COMMUNITY
After an early breakfast we go for a morning game drive to Kanangorok hot springs. A variety of animals can be seen roaming around including the Ostrich. In the afternoon have a cultural experience that will bring into contact with Karamojong people at Karenna and Kidepo. Meet the local elders and have an opportunity to interact with them. They will show you the kraals, the grinding stones and many more interesting items. A visit to these tribal cultures will give you an excellent feel of the real African Culture. Later return to the hotel, or campsite to refresh yourselves, relax and have time to enjoy the wildernesses night overstay and dinner.
DAY 4: TRANSFER BACK TO KAMPALA/ENTEBBE
In the morning, we drive out of the park as we hopefully spot some last animals. Travel through the remotest zones of Uganda, seeing the villages and thatched houses passing by the window. With an en-route stopover for lunch then we proceed to Kampala.
